Designated the official soft drink of Maine, Moxie was invented in 1876 by Dr. Augusten Thompson of Union, Maine, who touted its alleged health benefits.
Cornucopia Beverages of Bedford, New Hampshire owns the rights to this brand and has granted distribution in Florida to Florida Micro Beverage Distributors.
There is an annual Moxie festival held in Lisbon, Maine.
