Raw Video: Flooding in Peabody, Mass.

(NECN) - Large amounts of rain have resulted in major flooding in the North Shore.

A state of Emergency has been declared in Peabody, Mass., where roads are under water and cars are submerged.

Public schools were canceled Tuesday morning and the Lahey Clinic Medical Center was forced to open three hours late after significant flooding in the building and throughout the area.

Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency spokesman Peter Judge discussed what the area is looking at now and what will happen when the water recedes.

"We've been doing outreach all morning to local communities in the Essex County area. We've been talking to local officials. Fortunately, at this point, there have not been any requests for any state assistance. But that being said, they're still in the response mode, and I think once they figure out what their impacts are, there may be further requests. They're doing a great job of handling it themselves."
