(TV Diner) - Besito Restaurant , in the center of West Hartford, Connecticut is getting rave reviews from the locals. Home of many upscale eateries, the center is a destination for foodies looking for a dining experience that is unique and above par. Besito seems to fit the bill on both accounts. Let's see why.
The menu is a large compilation of traditional and creative takes on Mexican fare, offering lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Besito's dcor is casual elegance. Dark woods, rich textures and white candles abound. Unlike typical rustic southwestern dcor, Besito has a sophisticated, relaxed ambiance.
We were sold immediately on the house specialty, tableside guacamole which can be modified per diner's tastes. Ours was mild, creamy and a great start to our meal. Then onto the the flautas.
These crispy chicken tacos were dainty and delicious, filled with tender chicken and topped with fresh queso fresco, crema and salsa. Yum! The thin and perfectly crispy quesadillas were filled with Chihauaha cheese and poblano peppers. Perfectly spiced, tasty and plenty to share.
The Carne Asada was amazing. Large tender cubes of steak were fragrantly marinated and just melted in our mouth.
The Taco Cochinita consisted of an abundance of tender, shredded pork, moist corn taco shells and a crisp veggie boat. Another great choice.

The flan was the best we've had yet. Ever. Traditional style, creamy and perfect in every way.
The Chocolate pudding was almost a mousse like consistency. It was rich and decadent- a chocolate lover's dream.
Service was superb at Besito. Our server was knowledgeable and very friendly and well versed on the many tequilas in house.
We felt the value was outstanding , considering the talented chef and artistic takes on Mexican faves. Apps average around $8, entrees around $17 and desserts $7.
Overall, and without a doubt we give Besito a platinum plate an exceptional experience.
