The Maine Democratic House speaker's event to highlight the need for more affordable senior housing has been postponed due to the snowstorm.

Rep. Mark Eves was scheduled to join members of the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition and others on Monday at the Cony Flatiron Building in Augusta to highlight a new report that he says underscores the "dire need" for more affordable housing.

The event has not yet been rescheduled.

Eves' proposed bond would pay for 1,000 units of energy-efficient senior housing in all 16 Maine counties.

The Democrat from North Berwick says that his proposal would not only provide access to affordable housing for more seniors, but also create construction jobs throughout the state.

Eves has also proposed boosting tax credits for seniors.
