The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Massachusetts State Police say a man has died after his vehicle left Interstate 95 south in North Attleboro and struck a tree.

North Attleboro Fire Capt. Scott Meyer says the car, a sedan with Rhode Island plates, swerved off the road and into the woods at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, struck a tree and came to rest in a culvert under the highway, trapping the two occupants inside.

Massachusetts State Police confirm the driver, Lukasz Prokop, 31, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, where he later died.

The passenger, a 27-year-old woman, was flown to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. Her name was not made public.

The accident is under investigation.
