An alleged drunk driver has been arrested after a car struck two children and an adult in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The crash took place in front of the Central Library at the intersection of State Street and Maple Street.

Police say Sandra Zemtsova, 48, struck a 38-year-old mother and her seven-year-old daughter and eight-year-old niece while they were crossing the street.

The seven-year-old girl remains in critical condition. The mother and her niece are improving, and are in stable condition.

Zemtsova faces three counts of operating under the influence of liquor resulting in serious bodily injury, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

She will be arraigned in Springfield District Court.
