A Mansfield, Massachusetts man who authorities say stole high-end vacuum cleaners to pay for his opioid addiction is heading to jail.
The Sun Chronicle reports that 49-year-old William Skiffington was sentenced Tuesday to at least nine months in jail followed by two years of probation.
He was sentenced last week to serve six months of a 1 1/2-year jail term for stealing vacuum cleaners from a Target store in Plainville.
Police say Skiffington stole almost $3,000 worth of high-end Dyson vacuum cleaners from various stores, including a Target store in North Attleboro and a Kohl's department store in Mansfield. He was arrested April 27.
His lawyer says Skiffington became addicted to opioids that were prescribed to him after surgeries.
