After calling out Amazon for making an "egregious mistake," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is praising the company for adding same-day delivery service to a neighborhood that had been passed over.
The service has been available to nearly everyone in Greater Boston -- that is, except for residents of three zip codes in Roxbury.
While there is no indication Amazon excluded Roxbury specifically, some have suggested income was the deciding factor, according to the Boston Globe.
"This is an egregious mistake that must be changed," Walsh said earlier on Tuesday.
Later in the day, however, Amazon made some changes.
"After speaking personally with the executives at Amazon, the company informed me today that they will now be offering same day service to every neighborhood in Boston," Walsh said. "I thank Amazon for this decision, and look forward to its implementation."
Analysis by Bloomberg found Amazon's same-day delivery zones in Boston and several other cities did not include certain minority neighborhoods.
