Boston Police Commissioner William Evans ran his 50th marathon on Sunday.
According to the department, Evans finished 143rd out of almost 1,000 runners in 3 hours and 39 minutes.
Evans ran the Shipyard Maine Coast Marathon which takes place along the Maine coast.
He would have preferred to run his 50th marathon in Boston but said, "I just couldn’t do it. The safety of the city always comes first. Running is a passion for me but keeping people safe is always my top priority.”
Evans said he enjoyed running the race and thanked everyone who made the race possible.
