The suspect in the murder of a Massachusetts man, who had been on the run since February, is being held without bail.
David Grossack, 47, was arrested Tuesday in Pittsfield after being wanted in connection to the murder of 65-year-old Francis Brescia. He appeared in court for his arraignment Wednesday.
Brescia's body was found decomposed in his Everett apartment by his building's landlord on Feb. 25 during a well-being check. A neighbor said the building had smelled for about a week at the time.
Authorities placed Grossack, a homeless man, on the state's most wanted list shortly after they started their investigation.
In court on Wednesday, a prosecutor said Brescia was found with 14 stab wounds and a fractured skull, and that Grossack's fingerprint was found in the apartment. Grossack also allegedly admitted to police that he killed Brescia and celebrated by eating Chinese food, according to prosecutors.
Brescia's friends also appeared in court, telling us the victim knew his alleged attacker. They described Brescia as a talented artist who had been homeless himself, but turned his life around and was helping other homeless people.
Grossack will be back in court on April 28.
