An unidentified man paid off $3,000 worth of layaway bills for other customers at Kmart in Brockton, Massachusetts, on Monday, according to The Enterprise.
"He had $3,000 and he wanted to apply the money to delinquent layaways that would otherwise be cancelled for nonpayment," says Jim Doucette, the loss prevention lead detective at the Main St. store.
Doucette says he'll be calling about 20 layaway customers to tell them that their bills had been paid off.
Earlier this month, a similar situation occurred at Toys "R" Us in Bellingham.
