Masked Intruders Force Woman, Children Into Bathroom

Men took jewelry, no injuries reported

Four masked men forced a Worcester woman and her three children into the bathroom of the family's Harlow Street home Thursday night while the men searched for valuables and eventually took some jewelry, police said.

Worcester police said the woman described the suspects as young and wearing dark winter clothing. Two carried handguns.

The victim, 35, told police she discovered the men in a bedroom of her home at about 9:20 p.m. after she arrived home with her 1-year-old baby. The victim had gone out and left her 14-year-old and 7-year-old home. The two older children were unaware the men had entered the home, police said.

The victim told police the men demanded money, then forced her and her children into the bathroom while they searched the apartment briefly.

After the intruders left, the victim took her children and drove directly to Worcester police headquarters, police said.

One man was described as 5 feet 9 inches with light eyes. Another man was described as about 6 feet tall. The victims could not provide descriptions of the other two suspects, police said.

The victim told police the suspects spoke Spanish to each other during the incident.

There were no injuries. Police are investigating.
