19-Year-Old Man Shot in Mass.' Largest State Forest, Search for Gunman Continues

Massachusetts State Police troopers are searching for a gunman responsible for leaving a 19-year-old man with life-threatening injuries early Tuesday.

At approximately 1 a.m., police found the victim in a wooded area in October Mountain State Forest, according to state police. He was rushed to Berkshire Medical Center in critical condition.

Officials believe the gunman fled the area. October Mountain State Forest is Massachusetts' largest state forest that spans at 16,500 acres.

The victim’s identity was not released. The shooting is under investigation.
