Police in Dudley, Massachusetts, have arrested a man who allegedly pushed down an elderly woman, stole her purse and led police on a foot chase.
Chad Rico, 33, is set to appear in court Wednesday morning.
Police responded to Dollar General Store at 13 West Main St. around 7:30 Tuesday night.
The victim, 78, was exiting the store when she was shoved to the ground and had her purse stolen. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police spotted Rico in the area of Chestnut Street around 8 p.m. and attempted to talk to him, believing there was an active warrant for his arrest.
Rico allegedly fled on foot in the area of Webster and ultimately crossed the French River in the water.
He was caught on the river bank and was found to be in possession of metallic knuckles, a knife and some illegal drugs. Police found other items they believe Rico discarded while he was running.
