Police Locate Man Who Punched Elderly Person During Argument

Police say a man is facing serious charge after an argument over a parking spot outside a Dunkin' Donuts that left a 60-year-old man injured late last month in Lynn, Massachusetts.

"The suspect punched him, the victim then fell to the ground and the suspect punched him several more times while he was on the ground," said Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec.

Police and witnesses say the suspect had his young daughter with him at the time, and after the assault, he allegedly walked into Dunkin' Donuts, ordered his food and left.

"The fact that you assault an elderly person, you do it in front of a young child and then you go about your business like nothing occurred," Lt. Kmiec said.

"I think it's terrible, I come here like every day with my kids," said Brittney Patient of Lynn.

"Disturbing, yeah disturbing," said nearby business owner Jen Serino. "A little unnerving."

Friday morning, Lynn Police tweeted a surveillance photo of the suspect from inside the Dunkin' Donuts.

By late Friday afternoon, a tip came into detectives that led them to a 53-year-old Lynn man. Police say the suspect cooperated, so he wasn't arrested, but charges of assault and battery on a person over 60 are pending.

"Anytime you have an assault and battery like that, it's shocking, but when you have a 60-year-old victim, it's certainly more shocking and surprising," Lt. Kmiec said.

Police are not releasing the suspect's name, pending the charges being filed.
