The Block Island Ferry in Rhode Island has canceled its service for a day, citing adverse sea conditions.

The ferry company said on its website that the ferries were canceled Friday but would resume on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Block Island, Rhode Island and for Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

It says the advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday due to winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts of up to 45 miles per hour.

The company has added an additional departure from Point Judith in Narragansett to Block Island at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
