Fugitive Wanted in Puerto Rico Captured in Rhode Island

Rhode Island police say they have captured a fugitive who is wanted for homicide in Puerto Rico.

State Police say they arrested 35-year-old Pedro J. Torres on Wednesday after learning he was living in Providence.

Police say a search of his Providence apartment turned up a stolen Glock pistol, crack cocaine and prescription pills that Torres had not been issued.

Torres was arrested as a fugitive from justice. He is also facing weapons and drug charges.

Police say Puerto Rican police issued a nationwide felony warrant on Aug. 6, 2014 for Torres for homicide.

Torres is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Providence District Court.

It's unclear whether Torres is being represented by an attorney.
