With Barack Obama off the ballot in this upcoming election, both parties are encouraging African-American voters to head to the polls. Democratic candidates will struggle to gain the support the increasingly conservative white voters in the South, but can win those races if they combine that with increasing levels of Democratic support among African-Americans. On the opposing side, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul sought to send the message that their party’s days of conceding the black vote are over by attending to National Urban League’s annual conference this week.
