An area of low pressure located over the Ohio River Valley will usher a slug of heavy rain towards New England today.
Rain increases in coverage from west to east as the day progresses today, reaching the Boston-Metro Area by the afternoon.
An east fetch off of the Atlantic Ocean curbs high temperatures from getting out of the mid 50s. Heavy and widespread rain moves in for the evening as a warm front slides north up the East Coast towards New England.
A few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out as the atmosphere becomes saturated and moisture-laden. Temperatures will rise overnight as warm front pushes across the area. Lows expected in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Winds may gust to 30 to 35 mph across the Cape and Islands. Area of heavy rain shifts offshore by Saturday with lingering showers around. Mostly cloudy skies prevail with highs reaching into the low 60s north and mid to upper 60s south. Cooler temperatures expected along the coast.
Clouds break briefly on Sunday before more showers and even a rumble of thunder move back into the forecast. Winds gust to 20 to 25 mph as weather system passes overhead and a cold front slides across the region.
