A trip to a Rte. 9 dealership, where a Framingham man had recently purchased his car, landed him in handcuffs after police say he was behind the wheel drunk.
Dushanthan Suntharampillai, 30, is known to the employees at Herb Connolly Chevrolet in Framingham. They said he has come back to drop off juice from his business as a way to say thank you for helping him with his purchase.
Employees thought he was coming in to deliver more juice Monday, but said instead he was acting strangely. They said Suntharampillai hit a used car on their lot and was behaving erratically in their showroom.

“He was like, ‘Oh I want to buy this car, I want to buy this car,’ and we were like ‘No, get out of the car. Police are coming,’” sales associate Lange Thigpen said “You can’t just hit a car and act like nothing happened.”
One witness recorded Suntharampillai’s interaction with police at the dealership on a cell phone. According to a police report from Framingham Police, Suntharampillai failed several field sobriety tests, made sexual slurs to an officer and is accused of kicking an officer during booking.
He is facing a number of charges including operating under the influence, assault and battery on a police officer and driving without a license.
NBC Boston reached Suntharampillai by phone Wednesday. He said his behavior may have something to do with the medication he is taking. He is out on personal recognizance and said he is considering dropping off more juice at the dealership to say sorry.
