Shark Sightings Off Cape Cod Close 2 Beaches to Swimming

The Cape has already seen a record number of shark taggings this far into summer

Two shark sightings on Cape Cod closed beaches in Provincetown and Truro on Monday.

The sightings, recorded at 1:39 and 1:43 p.m. by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, come after 10 sightings on the Cape and Nantucket over the weekend, five each day.

Head of the Meadows Beach was closed until 2:40 p.m. Monday, according to the AWSC. They said that the protective beach in Provincetown was closed until 2:45 p.m.

The Cape has already seen a record number of shark taggings this far into summer and beaches are being temporarily closed for shark sightings on an almost daily basis, including each day since at least Tuesday.
