Maine state police say one person is dead and eight were injured - including five children - in a head on collision in Pittsfield.
Authorities say 67-year-old Camille Ortolano of Corinna was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Route 2 at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the Jeep Wrangler driven by her husband, 69-year-old Joseph Ortolano, lost control on black ice and collided head-on with a Chevy Tahoe. Joseph Ortolano was hospitalized with multiple injuries.
All seven occupants of the Tahoe - 43-year-old Michael Pease of Industry, his 41-year-old wife, Heather Willis, and their five children, ages 8-17, were taken to Sabasticook Valley Medical Center. Police say their injuries are not life-threatening.
The road remained closed until midnight.
