(NECN) - Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old suspect arrested in relation to the Boston Marathon bombings, remains in serious condition under heavy police guard at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
On Saturday, Governor Deval Patrick spoke to the press, saying that the suspect is unable to communicate due to his injuries.
Once he can speak, however, he will be interviewed by a special interrogation team for high value suspects. US officials say that he will not be given a Miranda warning. The government is instead invoking the are "public safety exception," which can be used when the public may be in immediate danger.
In light of this move, the American Civil Liberties Union has expressed concerns over the suspect's right to due process as an American citizen.
Meanwhile, there are two key questions investigators want answered: did the suspect and his brother act alone and what was their motive?
According to the FBI, the suspects older brother, Tamerlan, was a strong believer in radical Islam. However, he was killed in a shootout with police early on Friday.
Today, the brothers' uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, talked about a conversation he had with the older brother in 2009, when his nephew began to change his religious beliefs.
