An investigation is underway into a three-alarm fire that tore through a house in Lunenburg, Massachusetts.

The fire happened at a home on Mulpus Road overnight Monday.

Flames tore quickly through the old Victorian farmhouse.

The house is owned by a big family and neighbors tell us at least one of those family members was home when the fire broke out. However, everyone was able to get out safely.

Compounding this tragedy, however, neighbors say the wife and mother who lived in the house passed away this summer from cancer.

The fire has since been put out and crews have left the scene.

The home appears to be a total loss.
