Thousands of demonstrators across the country will take to the streets on Tuesday to march and protest restrictive abortion laws that were recently passed in several states.

More than 50 organizations are behind the "Stop the Bans" Day of Action marches, which will take place at more than 350 events nationwide. There are 34 events across Massachusetts on Tuesday alone.

Governors in Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky and Ohio recently approved bills to criminalize abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected. A heartbeat can be discovered as soon as the sixth week of pregnancy, before many women know they're pregnant.

Missouri lawmakers passed an eight-week ban, Alabama's governor passed a bill to make the medical procedure a felony in most cases, and other states like Louisiana are considering taking on similar measures.
