We’re tracking an unseasonably cool weekend with highs in the lower 40s, 30s north under mostly cloudy skies both days.

This afternoon, we could see a few spot showers, with some flurries mixing in later this evening as temperatures slip back to near freezing. The winds will shift from out of the north-northwest today to out of the northeast by Sunday morning, as a boundary slides southward, allowing for colder air to sink farther south with snow showers popping up along the trough.

As a result, we could see scattered coating to an inch of snow in some spots starting tonight, lasting through tomorrow evening. These will be quick movers, as winds increase out of the north-northeast to 10-20 mph, with some ocean-enhanced snow showers developing along the immediate coastline of New England.

The colder air that is sticking around for the weekend and for the start of the next work week is keeping us relatively dry and quiet as a system out to the Midwest is bringing a spring snow to southern Indiana and Illinois. That system will pass by well to our south as high pressure dominates to our north over the course of the first few days of the work week.

Clouds slide in by midweek with a chance for rain late Thursday and Friday. The clouds and showers are associated with a warm-up by the end of the week with highs stretching into the 50s.

Slightly cooler air takes over for Easter Weekend, with a chance for some showers for Easter Sunday. However, it does not look like a washout just yet, so I wouldn’t cancel any of those Easter Egg Hunts just yet, but would advise to stay on top of the forecast by downloading our free mobile app for the very latest updates on the go.
