Driver Charged in Deadly Accident in Conn.

Police in Connecticut have charged a driver they say was racing when he caused a crash that killed two people, including a pregnant woman, and injured five.

Police say 19-year-old Abdulaziz Yuldoshev, of Hamden, turned himself in Monday and was charged with two counts of first-degree manslaughter in the April crash in Shelton.

Police say a southbound Mini Cooper with four occupants collided with a northbound Saturn with three occupants.

Police say the Saturn had pulled into the southbound lane to avoid Yuldoshev's car that was traveling north and racing another vehicle.

Some Leavenworth County, Kansas, officials are calling for Commissioner Louis Klemp's resignation after he insulted a black woman who had just presented a land-use study to the commission. "I don't want you to think I am picking on you because we are part of the master race. You have a gap in your teeth. We are part of the master race, don't you forget that," Klemp said.

Two passengers in the Mini Cooper, 18-year-old Shalymar Herrera, of West Haven, and 23-year-old Brianna Torres-Carter, of Bridgeport, died. Torres-Carter was pregnant.

Yuldoshev posted $50,000 bail pending a court hearing next week. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
