Elderly Man Dies After Being Struck by Tree in Rowley

An 81-year-old man has died after being struck by a falling tree in Rowley, Massachusetts on Thursday morning.

The man was taken by a medical helicopter to a Boston Hospital with what were described as "serious, life-threatening injuries," according to the Rowley police and fire departments, where he later died.

Rescuers responded to a home on Main Street in Rowley at 11:18 a.m. when the man was struck by the tree, which was in the process of being cut down.

The incident is under investigation by the Rowley Police Department and State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex County DA's Office.
