Report: Organizer of Controversial ‘Free Speech Rally' Suing Boston Mayor

One of the organizer's behind August's "Free Speech Rally" that drew thousands of counterprotesters is reportedly suing Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.

The Boston Globe reports that Brandon Novam of Lowell, Massachusetts, is suing Walsh for slander over the mayor's comments leading up to the controversial rally, which took place shortly after the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Novam tells the Globe he lost his software consulting job the day after the Charlottesville protests, which was nearly a week before the Boston rally took place.

The Aug. 19 rally that took place in the Boston Common drew about 50 people, and was dwarfed by the counterprotest, in which an estimated 40,000 took part.

Novam's lawsuit is reportedly seeking $100 million in damages.

Walsh's office declined to comment on the lawsuit.
