After 67 years of ownership by the Catholic church, the Searles Castle was purchased by an unnamed buyer, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

The historic castle in Windham, New Hampshire and its 120 acres were bought for $3.45 million, according to an email from Community Development Director Rex Norman to town officials on Feb. 28.

"We have been in contact with the new ownership and assured the property will be maintained and respected for its historical significance to our town,” Norman said in the email.

The property had belonged to the Sisters of Mercy since 1952, according to Town Planner Dick Gregory.
