One person is unaccounted for as crews battle a 2-alarm house fire Thursday night in Oxford, Massachusetts.

The massive fire was reported shortly before 8 p.m. by a woman who arrived at the Sacarrappa Road home where she lives to find it on fire. The woman's mother, who also lives at the home, is unaccounted for.

"I could see the flames coming out of the house, and the smoke," recalled neighbor Ginette Bailey.

There are no hydrants on the street, so fire trucks and trucks from neighboring towns have had to bring water to the scene repeatedly.

When fire crews arrived, they tried to find the missing woman.

"We did a primary search real quick. Nothing was found at that point. Everybody had to be pulled out of the building," interim Oxford Fire Chief Paul Ford said. "It had gone through the roof, it was structurally unsound."

The fire is under control, but it will be a while before they can get back inside to do a full search.

"Once we get it to the point where we can get in there and do a thorough investigation, we'll move forward after that," Ford said.

One firefighter was injured in the response and taken to a hospital, but his injuries are not considered to be serious.
