Maine Woman Sentenced for Intent to Distribute Bath Salts

A Maine woman will spend two years in prison for possession with intent to distribute bath salts.

Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Krystal Bell of Corinth will also spend three years in supervised release and must pay a $1,000 fine. She pleaded guilty in February.

Court records say law enforcement agents stopped Bell at a post office in St. Albans, Maine, in May 2014 when she was picking up a package mailed from China. Records say Bell told agents the package contained Alpha-PVP and she intended to deliver it to someone else.

Prosecutors say Alpha-PVP is a controlled substance that is among a group of illegal street drugs commonly called bath salts.
