Man Charged With Killing Girlfriend Wants Statements Dismissed

Justin Pillsbury is charged with murder in connection with the November death of Jillian Jones

The lawyer for an Augusta, Maine, man charged with fatally stabbing his live-in girlfriend wants statements his client made to investigators dismissed as evidence.

A lawyer for Justin Pillsbury told a judge Tuesday in Kennebec County Superior Court that those statements should be kept out of any trial because his client was not properly advised of his rights and was too sedated after surgery to think straight.

The 39-year-old Pillsbury is charged with murder in connection with the November death of Jillian Jones. Authorities say he was angry because she talked to another man on the phone.

Pillsbury remains in custody after pleading not guilty.

The Kennebec Journal reports that the judge gave attorneys several weeks to file oral arguments and indicated she would rule on the motion later.
