Man Found Guilty of Shooting Neighbor in 2013

Richard Galiotte was found guilty Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court

A 21-year-old Attleboro, Massachusetts, man has been convicted of shooting his neighbor in 2013 after the victim confronted him about his alleged drug dealing.

The Sun Chronicle reports that Richard Galiotte was found guilty Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court of assault and weapons charges stemming from the nonfatal shooting of 20-year-old Kevin Portillo in November 2013.

Prosecutors say Galiotte shot Portillo once in the abdomen in front of the victim's mother.

Police arrested Galiotte after a seven-hour standoff at his home. He was taken into custody after a SWAT team entered the residence and found him hiding in the attic.

Galiotte is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.
