Man Pleads Guilty to Leaving His Baby Home Alone

The baby was not injured, but was found by her mother in her crib

A Vermont man accused of leaving his 1 1/2-year-old baby girl home alone has pleaded guilty to multiple charges.

Keith Taylor of Waterford initially pleaded not guilty to child endangerment, domestic assault, drunken driving, and other offenses.

The Caledonian Record reports in an agreement with prosecutors, the 36-year-old Taylor pleaded guilty in exchange for a sentence of eight months to seven years; most of that time would be served on home detention. Before that, he had faced a sentence of up to 24 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.

Police said the baby was not injured last December, but was found by her mother in her crib in a sweltering bedroom due to a portable electric heater that had been left on.
