A New Hampshire woman and her son are recovering after being struck by lightning last Tuesday, according to a report.

The Sentinel reports 28-year-old Kelly Bell of Marlborough was watching the rain with her 2-year-old son Logan when lightning struck a tree in their front yard, with the charge traveling to the porch through a metal dog leash.

"All of a sudden, I smelled smoke and I was on the ground," Bell told the Sentinel.

She says she's grateful she and Logan are alive.
