Nantucket Public Schools Closed Monday After Rumors of Threat

Nantucket Public Schools will be closed on Monday after rumors of a threat to the high school, according to Superintendent Michael Cozort.

While officials do not believe the threat is credible, Cozort said he made the decision to close schools on Monday to give the police department and other law enforcement officials time to further investigate to ensure the building is safe for students and staff.

The Cape Cod Time reports that the decision was made after rumors of a shooting threat spread through social media.

Cozort said they will share more information Monday if and when they are able to do so.

No details have been released regarding the nature of the rumored threat.

No other information was immediately available.
