    National Grid Worker Hurt in Crash With SUV in Spencer

    After being struck by a vehicle in Spencer, Massachusetts, a National Grid worker was hospitalized late Wednesday morning.

    A National Grid worker who was hit by a car in Spencer, Massachusetts last month while working on a road has died, according to police.

    Paul Germano, 50, of Dudley died Monday following the July 31 pedestrian crash on Route 9, police told NBC10 Boston. 

    Germano was in the eastbound lane marking underground piping for an upcoming construction project at the time of the crash. He was thrown about 40 feet after being hit by a white sport utility car, police said.

    Witnesses said a good Samaritan rushed to Germano's aid and performed CPR on the victim.

    NBC10 Boston's Sky Ranger was over the scene in Spencer, Massachusetts, Wednesday afternoon where a National Grid worker was struck by a vehicle on Route 9.

    He and the driver of the car were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the sports utility car has been identified as a 60-year-old North Brookfield woman.
