A New Hampshire couple was arraigned Monday on charges that they misled investigators in connection with the case of a woman's body found burned near MBTA commuter rail tracks in Massachusetts.
Forty-year-old Julian Squires and his wife, 39-year-old Shannon Squires, both of Manchester, were arraigned on one count each of misleading a police investigation Monday in Brockton District Court.
Julian Squires was held on $100,000 bail, while Shannon Squires was held on $20,000 bail; both were ordered to surrender their passports.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says the Squires lied to police about their whereabouts later in the day of Nov. 3 after admitting to being with the victim, identified as 29-year-old Ashley Bortner of New Jersey.
The Squires were arrested Friday night by Massachusetts State Police. Their next court appearance is Dec. 23.
The investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
