A New Jersey woman was rescued from the White Mountains by first responders on Saturday afternoon.
New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game officials rescused a 49-year-old woman from Hedgehog Mountain along the UNH Trail in Albany. She was deemed incoherent and unable to walk under her own power, according to officials.
On June 22, 2019, at 4:15 p.m., Lakes Region Search and Rescue, Conway Fire Department Ambulance, White Mountain National Forest Service Volunteer, passing hikers and New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers responded to Hedgehog Mountain along the UNH Trail for an unconscious hiker as reported by her hiking companion.
The woman was carried to the trailhead approximately 2.5 miles by volunteers down the UNH Trail. She was then brought to Memorial Hospital in Conway.
Fish and Game officials remind hikers to prepare themselves before venturing out into the wilderness, including packing the 10 essential items; map, compass, warm clothing, extra food and water, headlamp, fire starter, first aid kit, whistle, rain and wind jackets & pants and a knife.
