Vt. Police: Man Threw Pool Balls, Attacked Trooper, Slashed Tire

The out-of-control bar patron, Benjamin Clarke, is a part-time instructor at Northern Vermont University

Court documents indicate an out-of-control bar patron hit a state trooper, threw food and a pool balls, threatened a person with a knife, and slashed tires.

Fifty-one-year-old Benjamin Clarke, of East Haven, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges including aggravated assault on a police officer at a bar in Barton, Vermont.

Court documents indicate Clarke threw pool balls, threatened another person with a knife and slashed tires in the parking lot. WPTZ-TV reports that Clarke was a part-time instructor at Northern Vermont University but was not currently teaching at the school.

Clarke remained Wednesday at the Northern State Correctional Facility. It was unclear if he'd retained a lawyer to represent him.
