President Donald Trump is punting on the question of who will win the Super Bowl.

The president was asked by reporters Friday if he had a prediction and took a pass.

He says: "I better not get involved."

Trump and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft are close friends, and he has been linked to quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick in the past.

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie donated money to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign.

The president's friendship with the Patriots' owner-coach-quarterback triumvirate was the subject of much discussion during his run for president.

Trump said during the campaign that Belichick sent him a letter in which the coach endorsed and praised him.

Brady took a lot of heat for saying he thought Trump would make a "great" president and for displaying a "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker. And when the Patriots visited the White House after their Super Bowl win last year, Brady didn't make the trip.

A December New York Times piece on Trump said he was disappointed by Brady's decision to distance himself from the president.

Kraft has been friends with Trump for some time, and even gave Trump a customized New England Patriots Super Bowl LI ring following the team's White House visit.

Both Brady and Kraft publicly expressed their disdain last year for Trump's criticism of NFL players who chose to kneel in protest during the National Anthem.

The Patriots and Eagles meet on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Super Bowl LII. Trump will not be at the game. He is spending the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
