Travel To Bermuda To Be Seriously Impacted Late This Week Into Weekend

Hurricane Gonzalo is headed this way

Hurricane Gonzalo is located north of Puerto Rico, but expected to impact Bermuda later Friday.

Waves begin arriving to the Island as soon as today, and really start building with swell from the south later Wednesday, reaching 40+ feet if the center moves as close to the Island as currently predicted, passing as a strong Category 2 or perhaps major Category 3 hurricane.  Travel to Bermuda WILL be impacted late week into the weekend.  Below, the forecast track is shown in blue, the cone of probability (accounting for potential error in the track forecast) in green, and Bermuda is just below the image center.  Note that even a change in exact track would still bring substantial impact to Bermuda. Featured below is the GFDL tropical computer guidance, valid Friday evening - not always extremely reliable regarding forecast track (if you look closely, you can see Bermuda on the east side of the storm, as a small black line), but it does a nice job reflecting the wind core, and the area of Category 1 and Category 2 wind...and drives home the point that even a passage away from the Island would still bring impact to travel and those on Bermuda:
