Winter Weather Makes for Slick Commute

(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Leominster, Mass.) - Drivers were advised to allow extra time to get to work on Thursday, as a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain fell in much of New England.

Areas like Leominster, Mass. saw about an inch of snow early in the morning, but it was a sticky, wet snow - which made the roads slippery and slick.

While the storm may not have been the nor'easter many would expect in January, the timing of the winter weather was less than ideal, coming down during the peak morning rush hours.

Boston saw mostly rain, but it was a heavy rain that also slowed the morning commute.

The silver lining: on Jan. 12, 2011, Boston got more than 14 inches of snow, and Worcester, Mass. got more than 21 inches. Considering last year's weather, one inch of morning snow may not be so bad, after all.
