We begin with the question: is the State of the Union address as good as a campaign ad?

What does Carroll think of it?
“I thought it was pretty much downhill from there. It was long. It was fairly boring. There were sections that could only be heard by cash registers,” said Carroll. “I think the timing of it just seemed a little bit off…As a speech, it didn’t really hang together that well.”
Who does this reflect worse on?
