Thousands of Market Basket Workers Stage Massive Rally

Workers refuse to resume their job until Arthur T. Demoulas is given job back

A massive crowd, 10,000 strong, gathered at a Market Basket in Tewksbury, Massachusetts to protest the ousting of former company CEO Arthur T. Demoulas on Friday.

"I just got a house. I just got my first mortgage. I'm worried. We're all worried," said deli worker Gerard Hamner.

Hamner is just one of thousands who are enraged with the firing of Arthur T. Demoulas. The employees want their old boss back and are urging customers to shop elsewhere.

"I'm going to do what everyone else is doing, fight. "I don't know what else to do," said Hamner.

Current company leaders want their employees to get back to work while they consider Arthur T's proposal to buy out the majority shares.

"Unless ATD comes back, we're not going back to work," said warehouse worker Shawn Morin.

Warehouse workers have refused to make deliveries. Store supplies are now depleted as a result of the strike.

Many customers are taking sides with the workers. Store sales have plummeted in recent days.

35 lawmakers have signed a letter to boycott the store. A "gofundme" page has been set up to raise money for the employees who are all currently protesting without pay.
