(NECN: Greg Wayland, Portsmouth, NH) – There was a possible lead here in New England in the search for a 10-year-old girl that was seemingly abducted from Colorado.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a dead end.

All this is in the case of Jessica Ridgeway, who has been missing since last week.

The girl was last seen Friday in Westminster, Colo., walking to school.

There was a possible sighting of the girl in Dexter, Maine over the weekend.
And, Thursday, police in Portsmouth, N.H. looked into a possible link to that sighting.

Police spotted a vehicle with Colorado plates, similar in description to the car spotted in the Dexter, Maine possible sighting.
After investigating Thursday, officers determined the car and the woman who owns it are not linked to the disappearance.

Back in Colorado, it was another day of searching for Ridgeway.

This, despite the discovery of a body Wednesday night, just seven miles from the area where she was last seen.

Police say they've been unable to identify the body because it was no longer intact.
