December 5, 2008 OJ: 'I didn't mean to steal from anybody' Play video

(NECN) - An emotional OJ Simpson stood before the court in Nevada, saying that all he was trying to do was reclaim his items from what he called 'friends'.

"I didn't ask anybody to do anything but to stand behind me, allow me to yell at these guys and help me to remove these things," Simpson said. "In no way did I mean to hurt anybody, to steal anything from anyone."

Simpson said that he felt responsible for bringing the character of men he brought with him, and reiterated that he did not intend to harm anyone.

"I didn't want to steal anything from anybody. Just my own," Simpson said. "These guys have eaten in my home. I wasn't there to hurt anybody -- I just wanted my personal things."

"I thought I was confronting friends and retrieving my property."
