13-Year-Old Recovering After Being Struck by Taxi Cab

A 13-year-old pedestrian is recovering after being struck by a taxi cab in Quincy, Massachusetts, Monday afternoon, police confirm

A 13-year-old pedestrian is recovering after being struck by a taxi cab in Quincy, Massachusetts, Monday afternoon, police confirm.

Police say the 13-year-old victim was transported to Boston Medical Center with facial fractures. He was conscious at the scene and is listed in serious-but-stable condition.

The call came in around 3 p.m. for the accident at 21 Berlin St. The boy was struck by a Quincy Checker Cab vehicle.

Accident reconstruction crews responded to the scene.

The cab driver’s girlfriend, Shirley Spano, said she found out about the accident when he called her in tears. She said he has been a cab driver for more than eight years and has never been in an accident like this.

Spano said, “From what he said, it was quick. I think he walked out in front of the cab. I mean, you can see the snowbanks down here. I mean, you can’t see anybody’s driveway. You can’t see anything.

The accident remains under investigation by the Quincy Police Crash Reconstruction Investigators.

The driver of the taxi cab has not been charged in this incident.
