Hundreds of U.S. cities may place bids for Amazon's second headquarters, but many in Boston could benefit from it, and the city may have a decent shot.

Amazon is reportedly weighing Boston as its second headquarters, but the company denies that there are any frontrunners.

Bloomberg reports that "several senior Amazon.com Inc. executives" are advocating for the company to choose Boston based on several factors, including Harvard University and MIT in Cambridge, and that Boston's cost of living, while high, is lower than other major U.S. cities.

Amazon, however, says this is not the case.

"We're energized by the response from cities across NA who have already reached out to express interest in participating in the HQ2 RFP," Amazon News tweeted. "Bloomberg is incorrect — there are no front-runners at this point. We're just getting started & every city is on equal playing field."

The company announced last Thursday that it was planning to open a second headquarters in North America, creating as many as 50,000 jobs.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh wasn't shy about voicing his support for Amazon setting up shop in the city.

"We would love to explore that option," Walsh told the Boston Globe. "I think it would have to be, 'Is Amazon the right fit for Boston and is Boston the right fit for Amazon?'"
